well no more talk and dreaming this weekend my 96 Ram 1500 comes out from its body work to go to school for paint. That leaves me an open stall. Thats right I am going to pull the gray truck in there and pull it apart. I am going to pull the hood, fenders, and bumper/grille off. Then i will proceed to pull the sickly 2.6 out and put it on the engine stand for further observastion set at a later date. (im thinking long rebuild) then i will commence to take the unneccessary things out and clean and paint the engine bay a nice flat black. Wish me luck boys.:butcher:

Finally got to the junkyard!

Cost of parts: 50 bucks.

Seats: 90's Mitsu Galant
Center Console: 90's Toyota Celica

Rooted around the yard all day today up and down mixing matching testing etc. Found some Mitsu Galant seats that where mint! Snagged them up along with a center console out of a 90's model Celica and both fit great. The holes do not line up at all on the Galant seats but they can always be drilled no big deal.

As for the celica console as you can see its in 2 pieces. I plan to put a CB radio in the space that it left behind. Just got to remove that plastic piece down there.

Getting high tech. My GPS connects to my cell phone via bluetooth and in turn connects to the radio and also acts as a MP3 player. So I get directions through the sound system along with reciving and making calls directly from the GPS and the GPS also downloaded my address book. Rolling around in style now for all under a grand!

More to come :D

Console parts:

Went to town with a pair of tin snips on this to make it fit. Did not measure just hacked away!

Well its coming together. Ordered the last few parts today.

Finally got the speakers for the front in the other day and put them in today. Sound great! They are Kennwood's go great with the kennwood head unit. Had to trim off the mounting holes on both sides to leave just the 2 and it fit perfect after that. Covers clipped right back on for mint sound.

Now I have:
Kennwood head unit
Kennwood's in the dash
6x9 boxes are in
ordered some infinity 6x9's today
Also ordered a cheap 200w base tube
400 watt kenwood 2 channel amp
install kit for the amp. Just bought a 200w install kit off ebay.

Got to order an Ipod cable for the head unit too. Thoughts on my under 500 dollar sound system?

Well the Gatorback Tbelt package came in today! Comes with all belts and gears. Looks very nice.

Also dropped the tank again and took me FOREVER to get the dam bolts back off the sending unit. Well the nuts. They are 7mm when they are not rusted to all hell. I ended up cracking them loose with a pair of vice grips and then taking them off. I highly suggest to replace them.

I used some homemade gasket maker and some fuel resesant gasket material which I placed over the tank hole smoothed it around hard then cut out the design that was left. It was hacked all to hell but it had a hole and it would seal then I slapped gasket glue crap all over it and put it back together. Worked great but made a huge mess. But now I got another dam leak and I can't find it. 90% sure its one of the lines but can't locate it.

Went after the 02 sensor just to find out that is a cali truck! How the hell did a cali truck end up on the east coast?! Also found out the maf was unplugged somehow it runs like that... No maf and no 02 Drove from RI to VA with a bike in the back like that. Chalk one up for the MM's!

To remove the the 02 sensor just go to autozone and rent there breaker bar and I did mine right there in the parking lot with the truck hot and it came right out! So after freaking out on the autzone guy for the wrong part he tells me its a cali truck and dam did I look stupid...

What a clown fest autozone is!

I cali 02 sensor... 82.99. Un real.

Put the old one back in and and of course the light comes back on...

Well fuel consumption is a 100 times better. Not out of the woods yet though. Been riding the bike and playing poker all weekend.

Update after the weekend.

She is a 1990 Might Max Sport 2WD Manual 4G64

Pretty mint body. Was a paint truck so its covered in paint lol. The back was lined with getto rhino liner so may get that fixed.

Story goes I bought it for 200 bucks. Check engine light and all. Drove it now for months fixed the gas tank and thats about it. Drove it down to VA where I am at right now and said if it made it I would fix it up. I had my Flat Black CBR 600 in the back of it and it made it fine so got to live up to my word!

Whats in the works!

New timing belt
Tensioner
Fix the tail light
Get a new tire for one rim
New Radio
New 4"ers
Mabey some 6X9's
1G seats
CB radio
Rattle bomb it flat black
Grease all points
Full fluid change
Fix the gas tank again... Forgot to put the gasket on the tank!

Will update more.

this is gonna be a slow go process on this truck i wont finish it as fast as i did my 4x4. this victim is an 87 d50 macro cab 2wd with a 2.6 and 5 speed 3.545 gears. to start off with im gonna focus on rebuilding the motor and getting the truck running. the oil pump locked up on it and spun the bearings on the number 1 and 2 rods which hurt the crank pretty bad. after i get it running is when the body work will start. i think im going to go with satin black on the whole truck, bumpers and all. i plan on possibly shaving the door handles since i already have a do it yourself poper kit. i dont want to shave the tailgate for sure because i need the use of it but i will flip the handle to the inside. static drop cause im a cheepass and cant afford to bag it. interior im gonna whip out my little bit of fiberglass skillz and mold a box behind the seats for two 12s and amp then come between the seats with a console with two 8s in it. the dash ill probably leave stock because i really like the looks of the factory dashes when they are clean. im sure ill go with a grant steering wheel. gonna make custom door panels. ill probaby add a few more things as it goes but a running truck is gonna be my main focus for now.

Well for the past week I have been placing phone calls looking for hard to find parts here and there. Here whats happened since I last posted.

A/C...

Well for the past week I have been placing phone calls looking for hard to find parts here and there. Here whats happened since I last posted.

A/C compressor known as "the Yorkie" because it looks like a mini York A/C compressor, has been rebuilt and is on it way back. This was not an easy or cheap fix. You'll really have to love your truck to get these A/C compressors rebuilt at $500 a rebuild. And yes, rebuilding is the only option. Mario at Burbank Auto really came through for me on this one.

I have located a NOS glow plug dropping resistor (MD093697) in Japan, it is not cheap either but beggers cant be choosers. This part has been impossible to find and even the almighty Mike Warme couldn't find one. :yahoo:
I am sure this will make his day. I am sure mike will also want to know who my contact in Japan is.
It's Mot.

I have also been searching high and low for set of 16x7 rims with 5 on 5 bolt pattern with a +25 positive offset. Did I mention they have to look Good, I may end up going with a set of stock Jeep wheels and tires until I find something I really like. The stockers had a +45 offset so they would work great.

Mike and I have also been working on another project called "operation 4d56 turbo Swap". Basically the idea is we buy new TD04 watercooled turbos from Japan that were made to go on the 4d56 L200 or Pajero. The other trick is to purchase all new factory plumbing for the Turbo because it is watercooled unlike the stock turbo. If we can get the Factory plumbing this will be a direct bolt on application which will make this an easy swap. This swap will greatly help turbo cooling and performance.
